The Platinum Preppy is Platinum's most successful line: the Preppy fountain pens are available in beautiful colors, are refillable and are attractively priced. The pen consists of at least 40% recycled material.

The Maki-e version of the Platinum Preppy was released in a limited edition of 6 unique designs and has a unique maki-e appearance. Maki-e is a combination of the Japanese words 'sprinkle' and 'paint'. A base coat is first applied to the pen, after which the design of the pen is carefully applied to the pen with a metallic powder.

The design of this pen, Fuji, depicts the fruit of the gourd that has a constricted shape in the middle. It was made into a pattern together with the vines and leaves. The pen comes in a special limited edition packaging.
